2012, hopefully not the end of the world
I posted my resolutions here this year, and I was conscious of them. I think because I made them public I felt more obliged to them. Anyway, here goes.
Wear more hats. This isn’t a joke. I am genuinely resolving to wear more hats.
Be smarter about drinking. I used to be super-responsible, but lately I just try to keep up with the guys. My tolerance isn’t what it was on the ultimate...

seasons will pass you by
Anyone else get awfully nostalgic when they visit home? Because I find myself listening to Yes and psychedelic-era Floyd, as well as the Anastasia soundtrack… :)
Anyway, I just got back from Caroline’s house. I can’t even tell you how wonderful it was to see her and her family. Her parents are like my other-parents. Her dad insists I send him my stories and then he shows them...

I cannot believe I got an A in my Romantics seminar. I had an A- at midterms, which means my final paper must have been awesome (and I hope it was since I submitted it with my application for the Honors program). So I’m still waiting on my Pass/Fail report for Spanish (I don’t think I failed, but I’m always paranoid). And also British Literature, which was one of the least...

Well.
I finished The Marriage Plot at four o’clock yesterday morning. Then I wrote a long, rambly email about it to Kris. I’m dying to talk to Emily too, maybe I’ll write her a letter. John Green responds to a common criticism →
John Green received a question in his ask box, addressing criticism he’s received about his books, specifically the accusation that his novels are largely the same. I’ll admit that after reading Looking for Alaska and Paper Towns, I had this thought at several points. Anyway, I think his response is really wonderful and honest. It’s worth a read, if you don’t already follow...

A Kindle Disconnect? →
Just came across this short opinion piece…does reading on a screen (be it a computer, an e-reader, iphone, whatever-the-hell) lose some of the experience of reading and becoming immersed in a book?

My evening
I just baked a batch of peanut blossom cookies (peanut butter cookies with Hershey’s kisses pressed on top), wearing a fedora, penguine pajama pants, and a sports bra. Listening to a mix of literary podcast, Brit pop and grunge.
Now, after trying as hard as possible to hold it out, I have 90 pages left of The Marriage Plot. Who knew four hundred pages could be so damn short?
